My claim to fame is that I was founder and director of the Portland Dialectical Behavior Therapy Program up until April of 2013 when I sold the practice. Portland DBT Program is an outpatient clinic specializing in providing full fidelity dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). DBT is a research-supported treatment which combines cognitive-behavioral theory and methods with Eastern meditative principles and practices.
Over the 17 years I owned and operated the clinic, I gained extensive experience in providing DBT to adults, teens and families, as well as supervising and training other professionals in the treatment. My clinical expertise has evolved overtime to specializing in treating relational trauma. In a nutshell - relational trauma focuses on understanding and treating the effects of childhood trauma (e.g.., physical, verbal, and emotional abuse and neglect) as manifested in our current relationships with ourselves and others.
